Sourced from the western part of Elgin, known as the Lake District, this clone produces wines that are nervous, aromatic, elegant and crisp with slightly lower alcohol and finely balanced, the fruit profile being subtle with hints of citrus/orange peel and peach blossom and with time, some nutty elements.

The wine rested in barrel for 11 months.

A small number of artisanal coopers were selected, all from Burgundy and only French oak was chosen. In 2021, 50% was new oak; 100% using 228 litre barrels.

96/100

The Burgundian CY96 clone tends to produce pithier and more focused wines, and that's the case here. Savoury, spicy and stony, it has plenty of structure from shale soils, impressive grip and focus and a tangy, mouth-watering palate embellished by perfumed 50% new wood. 2024-30.

95/100

This has a delicious interplay of ripe stone-fruit aromas like nectarines and mangoes, showing nutty nougat and cashew undertones as well as buttered toast. It’s simultaneously full-bodied, powerful and nutty yet salty and vibrant with a long and intense finish. Drink or hold.
